These Celebs Are Surviving And Thriving Post Breakup

These lot are living proof that it can be done

After keeping us in suspense for what feels like an actual eternity, Adele’s new album ‘25’ is finally here!

One of the reasons so many people are able to relate to this London lass is because of just how well she captures the pain that so many of us know too well.

A bad split can feel like the world is ending, and often leads to a long period of hiding in bed and crying anytime you hear a sad song on the radio. But it doesn’t have to. Some stars, like Adele, choose to harness their break up blues into creative brilliance. These celebs didn’t just survive after a break up – they thrived.

Kanye West

Kanye’s never been one to just sit back and feel sorry for himself. Back in 2008, Kanye put out a whole album filled with the products of a particularly difficult time in his life. Along with other things, 808s & Heartbreak is a response to the breakdown of his engagement to his ex-fiancée Alexis Phifer. Two albums and one particularly notable new relationship later, Kanye is on top of the world. Way to go, Ye.

Taylor Swift

When you think of artists building careers out of break-ups, you think Taylor Swift, right? While bags of hard work and vintage satchels worth of talent undoubtedly got Taylor to where she is today, the singer’s ability to infuse her tracks with the pain of past break-ups and the bucket load of sass that carried her through them is what makes her really stand out.

Harry Styles

Yeah that’s right, we’re going there. If we’re talking about Tay-Tay getting over past relationships there’s one name that springs to mind. Now, we’re not saying ‘Perfect’ is definitely about Taylor (it so is) but there’s no doubt that Hazza has gotten through that break-up pretty well.

Ed Sheeran

The flame haired crooner had a particularly nasty break-up when fellow British popster Niall Horan allegedly moved in on his gal, Ellie Goulding. Ed pushed himself creatively to pull off the ultimate act of revenge – putting out the hit track, ‘Don’t’, letting the whole world hear just how he felt about their bitter break-up. Sheerz says he’s over it now and doesn’t feel any resentment when singing ‘Don’t’, so it’s all good.

Justin Bieber

We know it’s hard to feel bad for Biebs sometimes but let’s not forget underneath all the swagger Bieber has a tiny, broken heart. Justin’s been in an on / off relationship with Selena Gomez for years now and he’s been pretty open when speaking about his heartbreak in interviews. Instead of moping around though, Justin harnesses his emotions to pen some of our fav pop-bangers. Even on his latest (amazing) album, Purpose, Biebs has said a number of songs were inspired by the relationship.

Vicky Pattison

As one of the stars of Ex on the Beach, we’re all pretty well acquainted with this Geordie’s relationship sagas. Vicky was understandably devastated when she called off her engagement to fellow Geordie Shore cast mate Ricci Guarnaccio. Since ending their toxic relationship, Vicky’s given herself a post-break up makeover and in the process, built a bit of an empire for herself, releasing a hit workout DVD, her own fashion range and helping others sort out their relationships on Judge Geordie! Take that Ricky!
