This Guy Mocked the KKK Using His Tuba and Became Our New Favourite Person
We’ve just discovered an amazing new way to tackle public racism and bigotry, and it involves a tuba. Yes, you did read that correctly.
Last weekend the KKK took to the streets of Columbia, South Carolina, to publicly show their support for the use of the Confederate flag.
One local man soon realised that he’d had enough of the Klan marchers and decided to fight back. That man was Matt Buck, a musician from South Carolina, and our new personal hero.
Armed with his trusty sousaphone, Buck walked alongside the march, playing some hilariously cheery tunes, including the trumpiest-sounding rendition of ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ you’ve ever heard, and managing to quickly turn a hate-filled event into something far sillier in the process.
Matt later told a local TV station that he "wanted to show my opposition in a peaceful way, and my sousaphone seemed to be the best solution to make myself heard".
We highly recommend tackling any discrimination with adorable music from now on.
