This Single Woman's Hilarious Holiday Cards Are All Of Us Going Solo This Christmas
Singletons 1 - 0 Smug Marrieds
There's nothing worse than being the only single person in the family at Christmas and having to fend off every distant relation who thinks it's a great idea not to ask about your hopes, dreams or even your thoughts on sage and onion or chestnut stuffing, but exctly when when you're going to settle down with a nice boy or girl ("How about when literally ANYONE will have me?").
If that sounds all too familiar then say a big HIYA to your new hero, 28-year-old Bridget McCartney, who puts a hilarious single girl spin on the American tradition of sending out holiday cards with you and your family's faces pasted over the front.
Bridget's story blew up on Reddit last year after her brother posted photos of the back catalogue of cards she has sent to the family over the years, but now she's back with an even more epic card for 2015.
"I have four sisters. Me and three of my sisters are married. Bridget is not," her brother writes in his original post. "My parents decided it would be awkward to have a Christmas card with just one daughter in it, so they cut Bridget out of their Christmas card (the married siblings all do their own. except me. I'm lazy) So Bridget decided to send her own Christmas cards. This is the first one, from 2010."
Naturally things have just got better and better. Here's 2011's offering:
In 2012 she proved that Bridget will always be enough for Bridget.
In 2013 Bridget posed as us at about 3pm on Christmas day.
In 2014, Bridget did actually manage to find a man to help out with her card.
And for the big 2015 finale, we have this gem featuring the real meaning of Chrismtas: a chicken named Lil' Molly.
On that note, we'll probably be off to buy some glitter and some card for a bit of crafting, because the single life clearly rules.
