WTF is Anti-Bullying Week, And Why Does It Matter?

Do something nice today.

So. You might have noticed that we’re all about the positive vibes this week here at MTV. Why? Well, why not?!

There actually is a reason why, though, and it’s because this week is a really important one. November 14th - 18th is Anti-Bullying Week.

So what exactly is Anti-Bullying Week?

Good question. First and foremost it’s a time to focus our attention on bullying, and encourage EVERYONE to stand up and take action against bullying.

Co-ordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the theme this year is ‘Power For Good.’ If you’re wondering exactly what that means, check out this excellent description:

To support people to use their Power for Good – by understanding the ways in which they are powerful and encouraging individual and collective action to stop bullying and create the best world possible.

So basically it’s all about helping every single person to see their own value, as well as encouraging them to help others see theirs as well.

What can I do to help?

This year, we want to use the internet to spread good vibes only. We’re done with trolls, negativity and nastiness.

Want to join us? Then your challenge is to share positivity and happiness all over the world wide web. Let’s make this the best, most loved-up week ever. We’ve got ready made social assets all ready for you to share. Check them out here...

Where do I go for help and more information?

Another important question. If you're being affected by bullying, or know someone who is, getting advice, or finding someone you trust to talk to is a great first step.

Whether you’re struggling yourself, or know someone who’s having a tough time with bullying, there’s so much help out there.

Take a look at Bullying UK and the NSPCC site for more information, or if you want to talk to someone you can call the Bullying UK helpline on 0808 800 2222, or Childline on 0800 1111 (it’s for young adults as well as children).
