Tha Carter IV was released on 29 August but has received mixed reviews so far. A trending topic on Twitter, #ThingsBetterThanTheCarterIV, had fans offering up suggestions such as “Watch The Throne”, “Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. album” and “Any hip-hop album between 1988 and 2001”.
Billboard said it’s “not a bad album” but said it would be “more easily digested and supported by those largely unfamiliar with Weezy's antics and unaware of his previous highs (pun intended)”. A Rolling Stone reviewer wrote that "Weezy doesn't have the same speed-demon intensity he had five years ago." But that’s unlikely to stop Tha Carter IV topping the charts.
The 28-year-old was in the news last week after receiving nine stitches in his head after falling off a skateboard.
