I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Uptown, Holygrove. Rough but no different from anyone elses hood. I love where I cam from. Sometimes I miss New Orleans before, but theres really nothing down there right now so to miss it you have to miss the old New Orleans.

Lil' Wayne on 'Tha Carter trilogy':
Tha Carter I raised new eyebrows to me, more people started looking at me for the lyrics as opposed to catchy hooks instead of catchy sayings, people started looking at me like ok he can rhyme he can rap. Tha Carter II made people start saying wait maybe this kids got a point when he say hes the best rapper alive but they still wasnt saying I am, it was like well with this album maybe he has a point this is a good album. I did not expect Tha Carter III to do what it done. Not that I had low expectations but I had no expectations basically, my Momma told me never to expect anything in case it never happens, so I just was hoping that it does well and it exceeded that to the 10th power and I appreciate every single person that even thought to buy it thankyou.

Lil' Wayne on 'features':
Enrique to Shawty-Lo. I love doing features. I love collaborating with people, with other artists, I think thats cool, I think theres no match for that. Two talents, two styles coming together to create a song thats great.

Lil Wayne on 'idolising Kurt Cobain':
Nah thats been blown out of proportion totally, I dont look up to Nirvana, I dont look up to Kurt Cobain. I admire Nirvana and I like Kurt Cobain just like a lot of other people and its just that it stops there. Im not a fanatic, I cant tell you no personal things about him, I havent read the book, I dont plan on reading it. That line, wherever they put it just got blown totally out of proportion because that has been asked me in every single interview " so you really love " no I dont, I really love me.

Lil Wayne on 'tattoos':
I just like em, the way they look, the way they make you look. Thats about it. Of course I got particular ones that are special but if I told you then what would be so special about them?

Lil' Wayne on 'acting':
I just shot a movie in New Orleans called Hurricane season with Bow Wow and Forrest Whittaker, Jackie Long and so and so and uh its a great movie its based on a true story, its for a good cause and I felt good about my character, I think I did well, I had some great responses from my shit so I hope that wasnt just to tell me something good because if it wasnt then Im ok with that. I would love to write a movie and Ill write a script for a movie one day but right now and working on starting to score movies. So Ill start doing it bit by bit.

Lil' Wayne on 'picking beats'
The way I pick a beat, producers usually give you a CD full of their beats, and you can just pick them, do your stuff over them and if you really want to do something with it you get your people contact his or her people and there it is. thats how I know I like a beat when it comes on in the first 3 or 4 seconds Im already ready to rock it. Thats a great beat when it does that.
