Lily Allen Confirms Bridget Jones Musical Departure

Lily Allen has confirmed she is no longer involved in the Bridget Jones's Diary musical.

The URL Badman star previously revealed that she had penned music and lyrics for the musical, including a song called Yummy.

However, Lily has since told The Sun that author Helen Fielding has decided to rework the musical, and will no longer use Allen's tunes.

She explained: "I wrote some great music for it but Helen Fielding wants to go back and write a whole new story.

"It's been a long-term project and I was happy to do my bit but I'm now out of the picture."

[related]Despite the set back, the 29-year old went on to add that she hopes her music will feature in a West End production one day.

Lily said: "I've had two companies come to me and say, 'Have you got ideas?'

"They want me to find a movie that I think could adapt well and I do have some ideas that I think would work. So my work may make it to the West End yet."

Actress Sheridan Smith has been linked to play Bridget in the musical, while Broadway singer Kerry Ellis has also expressed interest in the role.
