Lindsay Lohan Freed
Judge overturns jail sentence and releases the star on bail...
Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail after spending just 15 hours behind bars.
Yesterday the star was sentenced to 28 days in prison after failing a drugs test. The 24-year-old had seemed confident and upbeat as she arrived at court with her mother, but remained silent as she was handcuffed and transported to an isolation cell at the Lynwood detention centre, where Paris Hilton served time in 2007.
But within hours a different judge had overturned the decision after Lindsay’s lawyer filed an appeal arguing the star should have been offered bail.
Bail was set at $300,000 and after 15 hours in custody, she walked free.
This was the star’s third stint in jail and LA Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said he hoped Lindsay had finally learnt her lesson. “She's been very cooperative – always has been – the first time, and then the last time. Let's hope this is the last time.”
The Machete actress was ordered to have a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring device fitted on her ankle within 24 hours.
