New Music Round-Up: Little Mix, Greatest Showman, Rita Ora & More!

Plus massive new tunes from Mariah Carey, Normani, ZAYN and Katy Perry also...

We’re not usually ones to repeat ourselves but... Q4 really is that b-tch.

This week brings really brilliant and refreshing albums from legends like Little Mix, Mariah Carey and Mumford & Sons, while ZAYN makes a surprise splash with Nicki Minaj and Normani continues her solo journey with her firstofficial lead single.

Rita Ora drops a new song ahead of her second album Phoenix (out next week) and, of course, the ultimate A-list covers album The Greatest Showman: Reimagined finally arrives.

So! Let’s get to it!

Singles

Little Mix - ‘Strip’

If there’s one song that best showcases the experimental sound of Little Mix’s brand new album 'LM5', it’s ‘Strip’. The minimalistic, pounding track is 50% acapella and 100% body positivity as the girls embrace their so-called flaws to celebrate themselves inside and out. Ah-ah-ahhhhhh, strip!

Rita Ora - ‘Velvet Rope’

With one week to go until 'Phoenix' finally arrives, Rita Ora treats us to one of the album’s expected standouts. ‘Velvet Rope’ is a pretty brutal heartbroken ballad in its lyricism but lifted to surprisingly feel-good heights thanks to its old-school R&B (if not quite doo-wop) influences, and it shows the superstar in a whole new light.

Normani - ‘Waves (feat. 6LACK)’

Normani (drop the Kordei) proves she’s better off alone on her debut solo single. Enlisting the help of 6LACK, ‘Waves’ is a heavy dose of heartbreak that borrows from The Weeknd and Janet Jackson. A solo star has arrived!

James Arthur & Anne-Marie - ‘Rewrite the Stars’

Two of the UK’s biggest stars, James Arthur and Anne-Marie take on the romantic Greatest Showman duet ‘Rewrite the Stars’ for the 'Reimagined' album. Their lush cover takes the song into slightly new territory while maintaining its gorgeous sentiment.

ZAYN - ‘No Candle No Light (feat. Nicki Minaj)’

Surprise! ZAYN is back on top form with this pounding, dance floor-ready collab with Nicki Minaj. To summarise, ‘No Candle No Light’ goes off.

Stefflon Don - ‘Senseless (feat. Tony Lanez)’

Stefflon Don teams up with Tony Lanez for a spicy remix of her irresistibly catchy banger ‘Senseless’ and it’s a match made in heaven.

Camelphat x Christoph - ‘Breathe (feat. Jem Cooke)’

After much anticipation, Camelphat and Christoph unleash their massive collaboration ‘Breathe’ to the masses. With Jem Cooke on vocal duty, this banger captures the magic of ‘90s house and brings it to the future.

Mike WiLL Made-It - ‘The Mantra (feat. Pharrell Williams & Kendrick Lamar)’

Talk about a power trio! Mike WiLL Made-It, Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams join forces to provide ‘The Mantra’ for the 'Creed II' soundtrack.

Katy Perry - 'Cozy Little Christmas'

Katy Perry joins the Christmas club with her first (released) original holiday song ‘Cozy Little Christmas’, and it’s definitely a newbie worthy of adding to the festive playlists. For some reason, it's only on Amazon Music (for now) so you can go and stream it there!

Alessia Cara - ‘Not Today’

Alessia Cara switches up the tempo on her new single ‘Not Today’, a hopeful track that looks forward to a brighter future in the face of pain.

Chase & Status - ‘Delete’ / ‘Big Skank Man [VIP]’

Chase & Status drop two massive new tracks this week, bringing the brilliantly chaotic drum’n’bass sounds we’re sorely lacking.

The Vaccines- ‘All My Friends Are Falling In Love’

The Vaccines may have returned to their roots with this year’s Combat Sports but they treat us to another huge pop moment on their brand new single ‘All My Friends Are Falling In Love’.

Jennifer Lopez - ‘Limitless’

Jennifer Lopez embraces freedom on the Sia-penned anthem ‘Limitless’, taken from the soundtrack of her upcoming film Second Act.

The Chainsmokers - ‘Beach House’

‘Beach House’ is The Chainsmoker’s lush new track, an acoustic-y rush of butterflies about those first stages in a relationship.

Chlöe Howl - ‘23’

She’s back! Chlöe Howl is stuck on a past love on the brilliant ‘23’, a soaring track that resonates all too well for anyone whose dreams ran away from them.

Albums

Little Mix - 'LM5'

Little Mix take control on their incredible fifth album LM5. Bursting with personality, the pop queens favour left turns over existing formula to establish their own unique sound. The surprisingly experimental body of work captures the very essence of the band - friendship, frankness, fun - while explicitly embracing their feminism and earned status to create a collection of cohesive anthems of empowerment for their generation. Undeniably, LM5 is their best yet.

Various Artists - 'The Greatest Showman: Reimagined'

It’s the soundtrack that has dominated 2018 with all new voices. The Greatest Showman: Reimagined welcomes P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Years & Years, Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, James Arthur and many more to the circus to recreate the magic with their own superhuman talents.

Mariah Carey - 'Caution'

To have the longevity to make and release a 15th album is something in itself, though the fact that Caution is a filler-free album is a testament to Mariah Carey’s incomparable talent. The icon is liberated, flirtatious, feisty and still sounding exceptional, and we’re (still) completely obsessed.

Anderson .Paak - 'Oxnard'

Anderson .Paak follows up his breakthrough record Malibu with his third studio album Oxnard. The rapper-singer-drummer extraordinaire dives into the realms of funk on this one and the results are truly special. Is there anything this man can’t do?

Mumford & Sons - 'Delta'

Mumford & Sons expand on their folk roots to create something more eclectic - and a little wild, actually - fourth album. Delta is dramatic in its sound and its stories, resulting in stadium-ready sing-along anthems born out of their much-loved live instrumentation.

deadmau5-'mau5ville Level 2'

'Aaaaaand...'another surprise! Deadmau5 has surprise-dropped a brand new EP'mau5ville Level 2'featuring major collaborations and remixes, just in time for the weekend.
