BIGGEST gig on earth announced!
Al Gore, Pharrell Williams and Cameron Diaz announce LIVE EARTH on 7/7/7...
Some of the biggest names in music will come together to fight climate change, in a massive one-day, world-wide concert this summer, called 'Live Earth'.
It's the idea of former US vice president Al Gore who announced the news yesterday (Feb 14) in a special press conference, alongside celeb mates Cameron Diaz and Pharrell Williams.
The shows will take place on July 07 (that's 7/07/07) in London, Shanghai, Johannesburg, Sydney and locations to be announced in Japan, Brazil and America - there will even be a show in Antartica.
Names already being lined up to play include: the Foo Fighters, Bloc Party, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Keane, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell who said it will be "the biggest party on earth".
Organizers of the concerts - which will follow the model of Live Aid and Live 8 - hope to reach a global audience of 2 billion people through the concerts, radio, television and the web.
Gore, who produced the Oscar-nominated documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, said, "This is all about getting people's attention and then asking them to answer the call to save ourselves and give solutions for communities, families, and for nations."
Keep that date in your diary - it promises to be a good 'un...
