American Sniper's Really Obvious Fake Baby Is Our New Favourite Thing

Seems like Clint Eastwood ran out of budget…

With a budget of $58.8 million, and a cast that includes Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, you’d have thought the makers of American Sniper would be able to fork out the fee of a baby actor.

It doesn’t look like it though, as this video of Sienna Miller and Bradley Cooper practically chucking around a baby doll would suggest. In a hilarious case of bad casting, it seems like no one made any effort to make it look like Baby Wee Wee was anything more than something from the Toys R Us Bargain Bucket.

In what is actually one of the movie's most serious scenes, the plastic baby is turned so its (plastic) face is visible, and its body remains completely lifeless. Academy Award also goes to the terrifyingly bad wailing dubbing that goes with it.

As the YouTube description points out - maybe Bradley Cooper wasn’t trusted to hold a real baby? Apparently not. According to Jason Hall, who screenwrote American Sniper, “real baby #1 showed up with a fever. Real baby #2 was no show”. At this point, Clint Eastwood stepped in and (“Clint voice”) said “Gimme the doll, kid.”

Told.
