Lorde Comes For Kanye West And Kid Cudi For 'Stealing' Her Set Design

“Don’t steal.”

If you ever had plans to “steal” Lorde’s creative genius, or any woman’s for that matter, don’t, as the ‘Green Light’ vocalist is taking issue with Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s latest set.

The duo performed at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles, and although Lorde didn’t outright point her finger at the two rappersshe did share photos on her Instagram Stories comparing their set to her ownfrom her 2017 tour.

Kanye and Kid performed at the festival under the name Kids See Ghosts, which is the title of their joint album, and the similarities between their set and Lorde’s from a year ago are uncanny.

The ‘Royals’ singer posted a few photos to her Stories, including her headline set at Coachella, alongside photos from Camp Flog Gnaw. Both of the set designs for the separate shows have a transparent and enclosed stage area that is suspended above the ground.

On Kanye’s set, himself and Kid are in the suspended stage whereas during Lorde’s set it’s her dancers that are enclosed, with her performing in front of it down below.

Captioning one of the photo’s she posted, the singer wrote: “I'm proud of the work I do and it's flattering when other artists feel inspired by it, to the extent that they try it on themselves.”

"But don't steal—not from women or from anyone else—in 2018 or ever," she added.

But is it classed as stealing if they did it before Lorde? Justin Bieber performed in a glass box in 2016, and A$AP Rocky was part of the performance installation “Lab Rat” earlier this year.

Tilda Swinton even took a nap in a glass box for an art installation at MoMa in 2013.

Awks.
