Lorde has deflected numerous rumours about her private life today, including news of an engagement.

Earlier today the 17-year-old singer called into Australian radio show The Kyle & Jackie Show, where a cheeky host asked her about BFF Taylor Swift:

"I see your guys' pictures everywhere. Are you guys, like, uh, are you together now?” he asked before adding: "Not together as in lesbians…I'm not talking about 'Ellen together,’” referring to American television personality Ellen Degeneres.

“What do you mean you’re not talking about ‘Ellen together’? Is there something wrong with lesbians?” Lorde bristled in response.

[related]When the radio host then jokingly asked her to confirm whether she was in a relationship with Swift, the Team singer shut down the conversation by saying: “Don’t even try it, it’s not working.

She also wouldn’t comment on what Swift was like as a friend, only replying “Err yeah” when asked whether she was down to earth.

Lorde is, in fact, still happily together with her boyfriend James Lowe although rumours that the two are engaged are apparently not true.

Depite being spotted in Houston with a ring on her engagement finger, a rep for the star said earlier today: "I can confirm Lorde is not engaged."
