Lorde Reveals Her Favourite Album Of 2013
The teen singing sensation picked a rap record...
Lorde has revealed her favourite album of 2013 and it may come as a surprise to some of her fans.
Picking Drake’s Nothing Was the Same as her album of the year, Lorde explained: “I like soul-baring music, and there are some tasty jams on this album.”
“There aren't that many dudes in Drake's position that are so emo,” she told Rolling Stone. “He does those moments of "I'm f***ing this beautiful woman, but I'm so sad!" so well.”
The Royals singer added: “You expect that from him. I saw heaps of funny things about him on Twitter, like, ‘When it's raining, that means they're listening to Drake in heaven.’”
Her tribute comes as a surprise given that at the end of last year she told Interview magazine: “I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn't relate to me—or anyone that I knew. “
She later clarified her statement on Twitter, writing: ““Just because their songs aren't my reality (being 17 and from Auckland) doesn't mean I don't admire their musicianship and careers!”
And it appears that the 16 year-old is also a Disclosure fan. She recently tweeted the electro music duo: “Just giving your record a real listen for the first time... Makes my soul feel real feels. What a masterpiece.”
