New Zealand songstress Lorde has opened up about her love of rap music and revealed she's a fan of Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar.

The 16-year-old star, whose track Royals is currently sitting at no. 1 in the US Billboard chart, touched on several subjects in a new video released today (October 10) as part of her VEVO Lift campaign.

The young singer dished: "I love rap music because it just makes me feel way cooler than I actually am."

Lorde - whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor - also spoke about an occasion where she met hip hop heavyweight Kanye West.
