The 35-year old faces six charges in total, including conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 13, as well as four more offences relating to possession and distribution of indecent images of children.
The AP reports that he is also accused of two incidents of conspiring to engage in sexual touching with two children; possessing, making and distributing indecent images; and possessing 'extreme' animal pornography.
According to Watkins' defending barrister Tom Crowther, the singer is planning to deny all the charges against him.
A 24-year old woman has also been charged with the same six offences, and a 20-year old woman has also received charges for five of the alleged offences - minus the conspiracy to rape charge.
Watkins and the women - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - have been remanded in custody and will face court again on 31st December.
