Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have spoken about their first meeting involving purple, velour sweats and intense ADD in a preview of their upcoming MTV documentary The Ride!

[related]Macklemore recalls: "One of the moments that changed my life was the friend request that Ryan Lewis sent me on MySpace. I ended up clicking on his profile and heard a beat that he made and I was like 'oh man, this is great, I wanna get this beat. This is a young kid, I can probably get this beat for free!'"

The series airing on Wednesday at 10pm on MTV Music, which follows today's hottest artists as they reveal the most game-changing moments that "made them" sees the Thrift Shop duo talking openly about subjects spanning substance abuse, Lewis' mother's HIV diagnosis to winning at the 2013 MTV VMAs.
