Highest Earning Women In Music Revealed!
The top earner might surprise you...
The top earning women in music have been revealed… and the winner by a mile is Madonna.
The Miley Cyrus did not even crack the top 10, although undoubtedly that will change next year thanks to Miley’s stratospheric rise to superstardom and Brit Brit’s Vegas residency, which kicks off this month.
So how did Madonna – who didn’t even release an album this year – make it to the top spot? According to Lady Gagawho, although making only slightly over half of Madonna’s annual income, apparently earned a not-to-be-sniffed at $80 million.
The majority of the moolah came from Gaga’s tour, despite the fact that it was cut short after a hip injury. And the sum doesn’t even include profits from her latest album ARTPOP, which was released last month.
Meanwhile the self-described “happy, free, confused, lonely” Taylor Swift may be a lot more happy and a lot less lonely after she finds out that she made number 3 on the Forbes list, earning a cool $55 million last year, largely thanks to the stellar success of her album Red.
Mrs Carter – AKA Beyoncé - came in at number four with $53 million (earning more than hubby Jay-Z apparently) while J-Lo nabbed the number 5 spot with an annual wage of $45 million.
At the other end of the list, frenemies and former colleagues Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey might be dismayed to learn they’ve once again been thrown together, this time at the number 10 spot, where the ex-American Idol judges tied with $29 million a piece.
Not bad for 365 days’ work.
