Madonna has heaped praise on Taylor Swift, stating that it’s “good to have a princess” of pop.

The singer - who is gearing up to the release of her 13th album Rebel Heart - spoke fondly of T-Swizzle during an interview with Richard Wilkins for Network Nine's Today show in Australia.

[related]When asked about the Blank Space hitmaker, Madge replied: “It's good to have princesses [of pop].

“It means there's lots of pretty dresses around. I like Taylor Swift.”

The Queen of Pop went on to add: “I think she writes some really catchy pop songs. I can't get them out of my head."

Taylor was quick to respond to Madonna’s comments on her Tumblr page, simply writing: “Thanks now I'm dead."
