Reporters Get Stoned on Madge Trip

Malawi school-kids give journalists a pelting at orphanage visit

Reporters trying to get an eyeful of Madonna visiting an orphanage in Malawi yesterday were pelted with stones by local school kids, according to reports.

The Queen of Pop was paying a visit to the Home of Hope orphanage where David Banda, the Malawian boy she is adopting, once lived.

As several reporters tried to drive to the entrance of the orphanage, local school kids pelted their cars with stones and police formed a blockade. "We are under instruction from the orphanage not to allow any press to go in because it is a private visit," a police official at the scene said.

Madonna eventually invited the reporters inside the orphanage though, where she answered a few questions and posed for photographs with David Banda and her daughter Lourdes.

Madonna is paying for a new clinic to be built in the Malawian village of Gumulira and is supporting efforts by aid groups to help improve food security and education there.

Madges people have denied rumours that shes also intent on adoption another Malawian child.
