Is Maisie Williams Joining X-Men Spinoff New Mutants?
The new movie's rumoured to have a YA vibe.
Maisie Williams, who plays pint-sized badass Arya Stark in Game Of Thrones, might be about to join another major franchise, with rumours swirling that the star will become the latest casting addition to X-Men spinoff New Mutants.
According to reports, Williams will be joined by The Witch newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy, with the two set to play Wolfsbane and Magik respectively.
In case you’re wondering, Wolfsbane is a mutant who can transform into a wolf whenever she fancies, while Magik is, er, magic. She’s also Quicksilver’s little sister in the comics.
Should the pair sign on the dotted line, they’ll line up alongside Alexandra Shipp as Storm and the returning James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier. Plot details are still very hush-hush on this one although we do know that the story will revolve around Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, while producer Simon Kinberg has hinted that there will be more of a YA vibe this time out.
There’s no confirmed release date as yet, but Fox are thought to have 2018 in mind as a loose target. In the meantime we’ve got X-Men: Apocalypse to look forward to, with that film set to hit our screens on May 19 this year.
