Think Politics Is A Load Of Rubbish? Malala Yousafzai Could Change All That
The Nobel Peace Prize Winner is the chick we should all be listening to…
Feeling the mid-week struggle, or can’t decide what it is that you want for Christmas? Keep your own problems on lockdown when you remember that nobody tried to shoot you in the head at the age of 14.
Targeted by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education in Pakistan, Malala Yousafzai was deliberately shot by a gunman who asked her her name as she boarded a school bus. By some crazy miracle she survived, and was brought to the UK to receive intensive care.
Now living in Birmingham, she continues to campaign. In just two years, she's now going to school in a city where English isn’t her first language, and met The Queen, Obama and Bono.
Amusingly, photos suggest that Bono was far more enthralled to meet Malala than vice-versa, which is completely fair play when you’ve got a Nobel Peace Prize on your CV.
Adding her book ‘I Am Malala’ to your Christmas wish list is a solid step towards becoming the nurtured individual you seek to become next year; Zoella, take note about the transparency with which it’s been co-written.
As she turns 18 next year, watch Malala go through the transition from a child with game changing ideas to an adult with the capacity to alter lives. She’s just told the BBC that she wants to become a politician, which doesn’t seem unreasonable. You can learn more about Malala and her campaign to make education for all here.
