Disney have released a new poster for the upcoming Angelina Jolie film Maleficent.

The promotional image shows Jolie against a white background, fullyemphasizing her prosthetic cheekbones and latex-looking horns.

Maleficent make-up artist, Rick Baker, told Entertainment Weekly that Angelina was inspired by Lady Gaga, who sported the prosthetic accessories in 2011, when Maleficent was in development.

The Oscar-winner also had input into the evil fairy’s wardrobe, choosing a pleated black Japanese material for her robe, which was accessorized with a clear crystal brooch.

Meanwhile the horns, which look so severe in the pics, were made to be “light and removable”.

"Maleficent was always so elegant. She was always in control. And to play her was difficult," Angelina explained of the dark character.

"I worked on my voice a lot. She's bigger than me. She's on a different level of performance than I have ever done. She's very still. She's very sure of her voice. I kept playing with these different types of British voices, making my voice darker and scarier."
