Mass Effect Andromeda Multiplayer Beta CANCELLED

Sadface.

Sorry, Commander: the upcomingbeta test for the upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda multiplayer mode has been cancelled. Permanently.

Confirmation of the plans to discard the test came via a recent BioWare blog post in which news of the cancellation was buried in a longer post about Andromeda’s plans for Americangames show, PAX 2017.

“While we will have live multiplayer at PAX East, there will no longer be a multiplayer tech test for players at home. Thank you to everyone who signed up. We look forward to seeing you in Andromeda,” writes the studio’s Sean Trayner… and that was it. Nothing else has been said, either on the blog or on social media. Sad face.

For those of us (*raises hand*) who spent considerable time chopping down enemies in Mass Effect 3’s surprisingly polished multiplayer mode, should we be concerned about the last-minute change of plans?

Guess we’ll find out soon enough - Mass Effect: Andromeda will release for on March 21 in North America, and March 23 in Europe, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you have EA Access, however, you’ll be able to access 10 hours for free from March 16, 2017.

A new selection of Mass Effect: Andromeda screenshots recently cropped up online, and we can’t believe how gorgeous they are. I’ll see you on the Helios Cluster of Andromeda soon, Ryder.
