The X Factor champion Matt Cardle has exclusively revealed to MTV UK what was going through his head when duetting with superstar Rihanna, but you might be a bit surprised by his answer.
We caught up with the 27-year old, who looks set to be this year's Christmas No.1 with his version of the Biffy Clyro track When We Collide, to find out what it was like singing with RiRi.
Speaking about his finale duet with the Barbadian beauty, Cardle joked: "I was actually thinking just don’t get an erection. I had very thin, very soft trousers on and I was like 'please, please, please'. I was thinking "Margaret Thatcher, Margaret Thatcher."
He continued: "There was no a chance in hell that was going to happen to me at that stage though. I was just too nervous! (The duets) are just so weird and different. You can't prepare yourself for it and Rihanna got awfully close."
While on the subject of the What's My Name singer, Matt also admitted that he would love to work with Rihanna again, stating: "She called me on the Sunday night, I don’t have her number but she called my tour manager to congratulate me."
"I said to her on the phone 'I would love to work with you again' and she was like ‘yeah, cool.' Whether we will or not is another story."
He also told us: "Someone said to me yesterday that Ke$ha wanted to work with me and I'm like 'f**king hell if people like that want to work with me then bring it on.' I would love to."
Speaking of some of the other performers who took to The X Factor stage this series, Matt admitted: "I’m not just saying this but Rihanna really blew me away vocally. She is just incredible, so powerful and she’s like 23 and is amazing."
He added: "I thought Jamiroquai were good, I know that’s a bit controversial and Take That and Westlife were great. The Wanted I didn’t rate, I'm not a massive fan."
While it seems Rihanna is firmly his No.1 lady at the moment, we just had to ask rumoured womaniser Matt about all the interest in his private life after being linked with the likes of XF contestant, Katie Waissel and stylist, Grace Woodward.
The former painter-and-decorator told MTV UK exclusively: "It's standard isn’t it. I've watched it day in day out. Every time you pick up a newspaper people want to know whats going on."
"I could have played it completely differently and never spoke to another girl throughout X Factor. My ex-girlfriend didn’t help, selling her story and telling the world what I'm like."
He added: "I just think she’s a d***head, I mean why bother? She’s just money grabbing. I’ve had a few ex-girlfriend's and some for longer than that and they haven’t f***ing said anything. She’s a d**k."
