Matt Damon has confirmed that he is leaving his most famous character Jason Bourne behind him.

The actor has decided to hang up his action-hero shoes after Bourne director and friend Paul Greengrass officially declared he would not be making another Bourne film.

Damon, who is currently starring in Greengrass' flick Green Zone announced today: "It's time for someone else to take on the action hero role. I don't think anyone wants to see me say "I don't remember" again.

The 39-year old actor added: "But i think there's a good way to do a prequel with someone else."

"As for me coming back to do him again, i'm just saying no."
