Doctor Who star Matt Smithis reportedly set to play the male lead in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster.
Variety magazine claims that the 30-year-old will make his transatlantic acting debut in the project, which also stars Eva Mendes and Mad Men's Christina Hendricks.
Production is set to begin on the film this spring, so Matt is likely to be able to finish the job before he returns to Blighty to film another series of Doctor Who.
Variety describes the film as being "set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city and centred on a single mother of two being swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town".
Set for release next year, it is also written by Drive star Gosling.
