McFly Took Us Down Memory Lane At Their London Anthology Tour Show
We got VERY emotional...
2016 is a great year for McFly fans everywhere, especially those that have been around from the very beginning. If you weren’t already aware, McFly are currently embarking on their ‘Anthology Tour’ where they play three nights in a row in one venue.
Each night plays host to one or two of their albums and we were lucky enough to head down to the first night where they took it right back to the start with their debut album Room On The Third Floor.
There aren’t many bands that can open with two of their biggest hits (‘5 Colours’ and ‘Obviously’) and still have such an enormous back catalogue to play the rest of the set AND two more nights, with the crowd singing along to every word. Pretty impressive, right?
After literally welling up with nostalgia over the first verse of ‘5 Colours’, we were certain that this was going to be a special night for everyone at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum - a pretty intimate venue for a stadium-filler band - and we weren’t disappointed.
As expected they played the album from top to bottom, fit with Dougie’s trademark banter as he admitted to messing up on a couple of songs - this is why we love you Mr Poynter.
The band finished the main part of the set with fan-favourite, ’Broccoli’, before coming back on to do a lengthy encore. We’re reluctant to even call it an encore as it was pretty much a whole other set, and we definitely weren’t complaining.
The six track encore included ‘Love Is On The Radio’, ‘Silence is a Scary Sound’ and our personal favourite, the audience chosen track, ‘Transylvania’. Dougie’s vocals make us look like the heart-eye emoji.
These shows truly are for the fans, and if you were lucky enough to get tickets for one of the other nights, you’re in for an absolute treat. Thanks Dougie, Tom, Harry and Danny, you rock. Long live McFly.

Not what we asked for
I'm not tired enough to sleep
One bed is broken
Next room is smokin'
Air conditioning's stuck on heat
And outside it's rainin'
And the guests upstairs complainin'
'Bout the room that's got their TV too loud
I guess the times like these remind me
That I've got to keep my feet on the ground, yeah
Wake up early, 'round 7:30
House keeper knockin' on my door
Do not disturb sign, the back of her mind
I must've left it on the floor, yeah
My eyes are hurting 'cause the cheap nylon curtains
Let the sunlight creep in through from the clouds
I guess the times like these remind me
That I've got to keep my feet on the ground
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
I guess the times like these remind me
I guess the times like these remind me
I guess the times like these remind me
That I've got to keep my feet on the ground
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na
No, no
I guess the times like these remind me (times like these remind me)
