New Music Round-Up: ZAYN, Kelly Clarkson, Megan McKenna and More...
iLoveMakonnen, Nadine and Tove Lo are also back with
ZAYN - 'Dusk Till Dawn (feat. Sia)'
ZAYN started the year stong with his brilliant PARTYNEXTDOOR collaboration 'Still Got Time'. Then things quiet. Now it looks as though ZAYN is finally ready to return in a big way. 'Dusk Till Dawn' a beautiful pop moment with a rousing chorus worthy of ZAYN's magnificent voice. Sia joins for the ride and the video is ZAYN's most ambitious to date. We can't wait to hear more.
Kelly Clarkson - 'Love So Soft' / 'Move You'
Kelly Clarkson won the first season of American Idol 15 years ago. Since her victory Kelly has proved that she's one of pop's best and most reliable players. Her new singles do nothing to dispute this. 'Love So Soft' is an old school banger that sees Kelly retun to her Idol roots and 'Move You' is a gorgeous ballad that let's Kelly's brilliant voice soar. A triumphant return.
Megan McKenna - 'High Heeled Shoes' / 'Far Cry from Love'
Much of the media discourse surrounding Megan McKenna's career move into country music has been negative. Nevertheless, the CBB winner is proving all of her haters wrong by releasing two brilliant songs and jumping to the top of the UK iTunes chart. 'High Heeled Shoes' is a feminist anthem and 'Far Cry from Love' is a stunning tear-jerker. On top of that her voice is sublime.
Nadine - 'Go to Work'
With Girls Aloud disbanding in 2013, it's a shame that Nadine hasn't been at the forefront of pop recently. Thankfully she's back and 'Go to Work' sees the singer reunite with Girls Aloud's main production team Xenomania for a brilliant Sigala esque bop.
Tove Lo - 'Disco Tits'
Having written hits for Girls Aloud and Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo has a way with pop and 'Disco Tits' may be her best single yet.
iLoveMakonnen - 'Love (feat. Rae Sremmurd)'
'Love' acts as a perfect showcase of iLoveMakonnen and Rae Sremmurd's personalities. The 'f**k love' hook is amazing too.
Miguel - 'Shockandawe'
Miguel never fails to release good music and 'Shockandawe' suggests that this upcoming album of his could be his best.
Demi Lovato - 'You Don't Do It for Me Anymore'
'You Don't Do It for Me Anymore' proves that Demi has finally begun to find music that's worthy of her incredible pipes.
Sam Smith - 'Too Good at Goodbyes'
Sam kicks off his new era with a subtle ballad about being messed around by men and having to bid them goodbye.
Taylor Swift - '...Ready for It?'
With its rapped verses and heavy bassline, '...Ready for It?' is like nothing that Taylor has ever released before.
TIEKS - 'Say a Prayer (feat. Chaka Khan & Popcaan)'
TIEKS, Chaka Khan and Popcaan killing it on one song - 'Say a Prayer' is the most joyful release of the week.
St. Vincent - 'Los Ageless'
Between 'New York' and 'Ageless', St. Vincent is not messing around this era and we are totally obsessed.
Hailee Steinfeld x Alesso - 'Let Me Go (feat. Florida Georgia Line & watt)'
Hailee Steinfeld is back with an all star collab and there's no denying that it's a bop of mega proportions.
Kelela - 'Frontline'
'Frontline' is perfect. 'LMK' is perfect. Kelela might be about to release one of the albums of they year.
