Mel B has spoken about the "bitterness" that followed after Geri Halliwell quit the Spice Girls.

During an interview on Larry King Now, the X Factor judge revealed that the pop group had their five-year plan cut short after Ginger Spice left the line-up in 1998.

"She left on my birthday, and didn't tell anybody, just didn't show up. We had the rest of the tour - the American part of the tour."

[related]Mel went on to admit that there was bitterness between herself and Geri "for a long time", adding: "I still remind her of it.

"I saw her a couple weeks ago and I said, 'Do you remember when you left on my birthday?'"

The 39-year old also confessed that the Spice Girls "fought like cats and dogs" during their time together, telling King: "We kind of relied on how different we were, how outrageous we were.

"We were the girls doing it for the girls. We were never relying on our sex appeal."
