Spice Girls Star Mel B Makes Rap Comeback... No Really!

The X Factor judge has teamed up with Weetabix and Red Nose Day for the Morning Mayhem Rap Battle! Sound bizarre? Wait until you watch the video here...

It’s been almost two decades since we heard Mel B spit THAT infamous Wannabe rap for the Spice Girls, with the X Factor judge now reprising her role as Scary Spice for er, Weetabix?

Yep, Mel has made her rap comeback in partnership with the breakfast cereal and Red Nose Day, with track Morning Mayhem Rap Battle.

The two minute video sees Mel (complete with bath robe) battling two kids about the daily morning struggle of getting the family dressed, fed and out the door in time for school.

Morning Mayhem is based on real consumer insights, crowd sourced from mums and dads, about the stressful – but hilarious - things that happen at breakfast time. The lyrics tackle everything from the desire to go to school "dressed as a unicorn" to the refusal to eat breakfast with a spoon.

Giving it the real Spice Girls feel, theMorning Mayhemrap was recorded at Strongrooms Studios in Shoreditch – the very same studio where Spice Girls' 1996 iconic hitWannabewas recorded.

[related]Speaking of her involvement in the project, Mel B explained: “As a mum of three, believe me when I say I know exactly what a struggle it can be to get your kids ready and out the door.

“The morning routine can be a nightmare, but hilarious too, which is why it made so much sense for me to star in this video. Every morning I have to battle with questions on why the outfits I've laid out don't match and even refusal to leave the house until I've heard all about last night's dream's and what today's favourite colour is."

She added: ‘It was great to get back behind the mic, especially being in the same place we recorded Wannabe all those years ago. My co-stars were true professionals and certainly gave me a run for my money – I think it's safe to say they won the Morning Mayhem rap battle.”

We wonder what XF boss Simon Cowell would make of her skills?

'5p from every pack of Limited Edition Weetabix Strawberry, Weetabix Minis, Weetos and Ready brek goes to Red Nose Day.'
