Mercury Prize List Announced
Florence, Kasabian, La Roux and The Horrors will compete for the prestigous award…
The 2009 Mercury Music Prize list has been announced and is the usual mix of big names and unknown artists.
Kasabian, La Roux, Glasvegas, Friendly Fires and Florence and the Machine are all up for the award.
Also on the shortlist are female rapper Speech Debelle, Bat For Lashes, The Invisible and The Horrors.
The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London onSeptember 8.

According to bookies William Hill Kasabian and Florence are the current favourites at 5/1. Bat For Lashes, La Roux and Glasvegas are all at 6/1.
