Michael Jackson’s Children At Cardiff Tribute Concert
Leona Lewis, JLS and Beyoncé were among the performers…
Michael Jackson’s children took to the stage at a memorial concert for the king of pop at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 8 October.
The Michael Forever gig included performances by Leona Lewis, JLS, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson. Jamie Foxx and Fearne Cotton hosted the night in front of a 50,000-strong crowd.
The superstar’s children, Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket, were on stage to introduce Beyoncé, who performed via satellite. "She carries the torch lit by our father and it gives me great pleasure to introduce this woman," Paris told the audience. Bey sang an old Jackson 5 track, I Wanna Be Where You Are.
Michael's brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie also performed, as did his sister La Toya. Janet had declined an invitation to attend as had Jermaine and Randy, who said it was "inappropriate" and "ill-timed" that the memorial was taking place during the trial of Dr Conrad Murray, who is charged with involuntary manslaughter over the star’s death.
Black Eyed Peas pulled out of the line-up just days before the event, citing unavoidable circumstances, leading to speculation that they are close to splitting up.
