New Michael Jackson Album Set For Release In May

The first posthumous Michael Jackson album is set for release in May, Epic Records confirmed today.
The record, titled Xscape, will feature eight previously unheard tracks personally selected by Epic Records chairman and CEO, LA Reid, who was given unprecedented access to four decades worth of Jackson’s vocals.
Once Reid picked the tracks he wanted for the record, renowned producer Timbaland came on board to “contemporize” them.
“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world,” L.A. Reid explained in a statement.
“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
Jackson tragically passed away in his LA home in June 2009.
The title of the record represents Michael’s own album-naming process. The singer always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with Thriller, used only one word titles, each with an “edgy quality” to them.
Xscape will be out on 13 May.
