Michelle Keegan: 'I'm Naturally Orange'
Former Corrie star hits back at haters over fake tan claims and talks body confidence...
Michelle Keegan has been talking tans, t*ts and teeth in a new interview with Cosmopolitan Body.
The former Coronation Street star graces the front cover of Cosmo's health and lifestyle mag this week - and has used the opportunity to hit back at her haters.
"I used to get annoyed reading comments saying I've got fake teeth. I was bullied about my teeth at school and wore braces for five years to get them straight," she said.
"It's the same when people say I'm 'too orange'. This is my natural skin; I don't wear fake tan. I can't help it: I have Spanish heritage."
But the 27-year-old Stockport lass said she'd learned not to let such criticism bother her any more - and she credits fiancé Mark Wright with helping her learn to brush it off.
"Things like that used to wind me up and I'd think, 'How can people be so nasty?'
"But since being with Mark, I don't care what anyone thinks. I just brush it off, I've got better things to do… or a Domino's pizza to order!"
And she said that her mum had helped her learn to love her famously big boobs.
"I've never really worn anything too boob-y. I've always had big boobs and, when I was younger, Mum would say 'Don't be shy, embrace it.'
"What I’ve learnt over the years – especially being in the public eye – is you have to feel comfortable in an outfit to be confident, otherwise it shows."
She also had words which might comfort anyone worrying about getting into a bikini this summer.
"Maybe people assume I've got loads of confidence because I'm on TV but, like any girl, I have good and bad days.
"When I go to a busy place on holiday I don't usually walk around in a bikini.
"There are parts of my body I don't really like and parts I don't mind. I'd love to be one of those girls who is really body-confident but I'm not.
"I think, deep down, all girls have insecurities when it comes to wearing a bikini."
The full interview appears in Cosmopolitan Body, on sale 1 July and also available in digital edition on Apple Newsstand.
