Mike Posner Steals The No.1 From Lukas Graham In Closest Chart Battle Of The Year

As Adele spends an eleventh week on top of the Official Albums Chart...

Mike Posner is back on top having just snuck ahead of Lukas Graham to claim this week's Official UK Singles Chart No.1 with 'I Took A Pill In Ibiza'!

The song which is an honest recollection of his career to date, got the remix treatment from Norwegian duo Seeb and endedstormingthe world's dancefloors, and now the charts too.

According to the Official Charts Company, Posner over took Lukas Graham's '7 Years' by just 261 combined chart sales, the narrowest margin between the Top 2 since 2007 whenTimbaland and Keri Hilson's 'The Way I Are' beat Kate Nash's 'Foundations' to No.1 by a mere 16 copies.

Speaking to 'NME'about the track Posner told them: "I made two records on RCA that got shelved and remain on my laptop. In the industry, my career was generally considered over, and people were calling me a one-hit wonder. With that song, I was just trying to be honest about coming down from the mountaintop of success; people’s ascent to the top is always very well-documented and everybody wants to write about it, but I was interested in what it’s like to come back down again.

"I had to live that, and it was a great experience for me - it made me a much better person. I guess it’s ironic that a song containing a line like, 'I’m just a singer who already blew his shot'has actually given me another shot. I find that hilarious."

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Zara Larsson's 'Lush Life' climbs to No.3, Fifth Harmony leap to No.4 with 'Work From Home' Ft. Ty Dolla $ign and Rihanna's 'Work'falls to No.5.

In the OfficialAlbums Chart,Adele's '25'continues to dominate as she spends her eleventh non-consecutive week as the nation's No.1.

Justin Bieber's 'Purpose,' which STILLhasn't managed to top the chart yet, climbs one place to No.2, Jess Glynne falls a place to No.3 with 'I Cry When I Laugh', while 'Best Of Bowie' and Coldplay's 'A Head Full Of Dreams' stay put atNos. 4 and 5.
