Reality Stars Pay Tribute To Love Island's Mike Thalassitis After His Death Aged 26

Friends and fans alike have come forward to share memories of the ITV2 star

Tributes are being paid to Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis after the 26-year-old was found dead near his hometown in Essex on Friday.

The reality TV star and former footballer found fame on the 2017 series of the ITV2 show, with fans and friends coming forward to share memories and express shock at the tragic news.

Chris Hughes, who appeared on the same series of the show, wrote: “His name wasn’t Muggy Mike. Please stop brandishing that. His name was Mike Thalassitis, and every inch of my heart goes out to his family & friends. A good guy, taken far, far to soon. [sic]”

Geordie Shore’s Sam Gowland added: “Absolutely lost for words not only made a friend in the villa but made a mate for life on the outside to !!! Absolutely devastated @MikeThalassitis R.I.P my mate.”

Olivia Buckland said: “His name is Mike Thalassitis. All the articles how dare you not use his real name. This is horrendous. I’m in shock. Mike you are going to be sorely sorely missed. My heart is with your family. I’m in complete shock ”

Charlotte Crosby revealed that while she didn’t know Mike personally, his death has come as a huge shock to her, with Caroline Flack – host of the popular dating show - branding him a “total gentleman” behind-the-scenes.

Mike’s cause of death is not yet known and follows the passing of one of his best friends, Danny Cutts, back in December. Reports also suggest that he was grieving the recent death of his grandmother.
