Miley Cyrusapparently decided to perform in front of a video with a cat at the American Music Awards 2013 as she was banned from flashing too much flesh.

According to HollywoodLife.com, Mi-Cy's feline friend was the 21-year old's way of still being able to "push the envelope" without breaking the rules.

A source told the website: "Performers were warned that they would be yanked if there was too much skin.

"Even though her outfit was a bit more racy during the performance of Wrecking Ball, she definitely would have pushed it further."

The insider went on to address Miley's more reserved red carpet look, revealing: "The reason why she wore such a conservative outfit on the red carpet at the AMAs is because producers wanted a show that the whole family could watch, and they didn’t want any boobs or butts or slips."
