The 20-year old's raunchy new promo for single We Can't Stop has achieved 10.7million views on the video-sharing website in just 24 hours.

 

The feat means that We Can't Stop has become the most-watched video in VEVO history during its first day on the site after the premiere.

 

Miley's pal Bieber previously held the record with the video for his song Beauty And A Beat - featuring Nicki Minaj - which racked up 10.6million views in its first 24 hours.

 

Cyrus also hit the headlines last week after clearing up confusion surrounding a lyric in We Can't Stop, after it was thought she was referencing drug taking with the line: "Dancing with Molly." 

 

However, the former Hannah Montana star explained to Rolling Stone mag: "I have an accent! So when I say 'Miley,' it must sound like 'molly'.

 

“You're not allowed to say 'molly' on the radio, so it obviously says 'Miley.' I knew people were gonna wonder what I'm saying in that song."

 

We Can't Stop will be released in the UK on August 18.
