Miley Cyrus: I Haven’t Gone Off The Deep End
The 18-year-old hits back at reports she is a good girl gone bad…
Miley Cyrushas spoken out against negative press and claimed she isn’t a bad role model for her young fans.
“People have very mixed opinions on me. I'm a great model, or I'm completely inappropriate for anyone under 13 and I'm very controversial,” she said in an interview with Prestige magazine, adding that she didn’t deserve the ‘wild child’ tag she has been labelled with in recent years. “I don't know how I became this. I stay in the house pretty much every day. I don't go out. I've had the same boyfriend [Liam Hemsworth] for two years.”
The Can’t Be Tamed star added that she shouldn’t be criticised for trying to outgrow her Disney image. "I'm not some crazy lady who's gone off the deep end, because I definitely haven't... Every 18-year-old explores sexuality and experiments and tries things. For me there's no reason to change that."
She also spoke about the downsides of fame and admitted she hates the constant attention she receives. "People lose a lot of respect for other human beings when they find out you're famous, because they've never experienced it," she said.
"I think that's what I would have enjoyed most - just being able to be in public and not feel like I'm being watched."
In 2010 Miley was caught on video smoking salvia, a legal herb that can cause hallucinations, through a bong at a party.
