The whole world was able to breathe easy again when Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth rekindled their relationship last year.

And now the singer has been seriously honest about why theycalled off their engagement in 2013 after first falling for each other in 2009.

Speaking to Howard Stern, Miley revealed: "I had to. I don't like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole."

It's no secret that Miley is 100% her own woman, something that is perhaps thanks to her time spent as a single lady: "I don't think I have that co-dependency," she continued.

She said:"I think people that break up and get back together, that's awesome" and added: "You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you're growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being."

Amen sister.

Well we certainly love the Malibu-singing happy hippy Miley has become, and we guess her bae ain't bad either.

Miley and Liamgot together on the set of The Last Song in 2009 andtheyfirst got engaged in 2012, but they called it off in 2013. A few years and a wrecking ball later the pair picked up right where they left off.
