It seems Miley Cyrus is ready to put the pain of losing her beloved dog Floyd behind her after revealing on Instagram that she has a new pet pooch.

Following the death of her Alaskan Klee Kai in April, Mi-Cy took to the image-sharing website to post snaps of her new dog after adopting adorable Shetland Sheepdog Emu.

After previously giving away puppy Moonie saying it was "too soon" after Floyd's passing, the Wrecking Ball singer insisted that this time, Emu is "here to stay".

"Been keepin him a secret cause sometimes I'm weird like that. It's taken some time to be ready for this next step and loving again."

She continued: "There will never be anyone like Floyd. There was a bond that was so deep it's irreplaceable but that's not what I am trying to do. Never will I replace Floyd and that's something I had to take time to understand. We had a very special memorial service for Floyd and I felt my angel Floydy give Emu his blessing.

"But sometimes he does little things that remind me of him and it makes me smile I'm blissed the out right now I feel like this is a new beginning in so many ways. I feel a change coming on."

Over the weekend, Miley continued to post snaps of herself and Emu, the most recent one being of herself and her dog in the shower! It must be puppy love...
