New Music Round-Up: Miley Cyrus, The 1975, Chance The Rapper & More!
Plus new releases from ZAYN, Arctic Monkeys, Jax Jones and Years & Years...
December's just a day away and all of our favourite artists are already feeling very generous this festive season, with everyone and their aunt surprise-dropping tunes this week.
ZAYN has released a new single from his just-announced 27-track (!!) album, Chance the Rapper has shared two new songs and two major collaborations are among the best of the year.
Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson's A-list team-up is a work of excellence, while Years & Years and Jax Jones' collaboration 'Play' is an absolute monster of a tune.
What else is there? Listen with us!
Mark Ronson - 'Nothing Breaks Like A Heart (feat. Miley Cyrus)
Mark Ronson releases the first single from his forthcoming album, the anticipated follow-up to Uptown Special, and it's an epic collaboration with none other than Miley Cyrus. The pop diva thrives in the country-disco space, with its dramatic strings and soaring melodies making it one of the best songs of the year so far.
Jax Jones & Years & Years - 'Play'
Watcha, watcha gon' do? Jax Jones has done it again, this time with the help of Years & Years. 'Play' is a bouncy, liberating bop with a sing-a-long ready chorus all about pining for that one person to just give it up and fall in love with you.
ZAYN - 'Rainberry'
ZAYN's second solo album Icarus Falls is finally coming to us in just two weeks and he's pre-delivered one of the best tracks we've heard from it yet today with the lush 'Rainberry'.
Arctic Monkeys - 'Anyways'
Arctic Monkeys surprise us with a new cut from their latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino in the year of ever-changing albums.
Chance the Rapper - 'The Man Who Has Everything' / 'My Own Thing'
Chance the Rapper is the king of surprise drops at this point. He treats us to two reflective tunes this time around, with Joey Purp appearing on 'My Own Thing'
Benny Blanco - 'Better To Lie (feat. Swae Lee & Jesse Rutheford)'
Benny Blanco drops another massive tune just in time for the Christmas parties, linking up with Swae Lee and Jesse Rutheford on 'Better To Lie'.
KAYTRANADA - 'NOTHIN LIKE U (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)' / 'CHANCES (feat. Shay Lia)'
Another surprise drop! KAYTRANADA recruits Ty Dolla $ign and Shay Lia on two new tracks, which make up a new five-track EP.
Alesso - 'Tilted Towers'
Wheeeeew. Alesso switches it up on new single 'Tilted Towers', a wild genre-hopping banger.
Circa Waves - 'Movies'
Circa Waves make a slick return with new single 'Movies', a sign of grander things to come.
Alan Walker - 'Different World (feat. CORSAK)'
Alan Walker steps into a 'Different World' on his new single, moving away from his subdued house vibes to something much bigger.
Four Of Diamonds - 'Blind'
Four Of Diamonds get vulnerable on their Jonas Blue-produced new single 'Blind', which tells a story too many will (sadly) be familiar with.
Cheat Codes - 'Feeling Of Falling (feat. Kim Petras)'
Kim Petras and Cheat Codes pair up to create a soaring synth-heavy dance anthem that is typically hopelessly romantic from Petras. Woopah!
Kris Kross Amsterdam - 'Vámanos (feat. Ally Brooke)'
Ally Brooke continues her solo ascent with a little help from Kris Kross Amsterdam on the huge 'Vámanos'.
Shy FX - 'Roll The Dice (feat. Stamina MC & Lily Allen)'
Lily Allen has teased this song for months and Shy FX's 'Roll The Dice' is certainly worth the wait. A banger.
The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships
Reviews are already hailing A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships as the greatest British album of the 21st century, and we can understand why. The 1975's highly-anticipated third album is a complex collection that deals with modern life's problems and world issues over sprawling productions that switch from acoustic to gospel to synth-pop to techno surprisingly seamlessly. It's wonderful, refreshing and a extremely necessary album to be heard in 2018. Well done, boys.
Clean Bandit - What Is Love?
Is there a Guiness World Record for albums with most collaborations ever? Clean Bandit could perhaps win with their second studio album What Is Love?, a relentless star-studded affair with endless potential for Number 1 singles. 'Symphony' and 'Solo' have already reached the top, and now it's time for Charli XCX and Bhad Bhabie's surprising collaboration 'Playboy Style'.
Meek Mill - Championships
Meek Mill's fourth album arrives this week with an impressive line-up. Cardi B, Ella Mai and his one-time nemesis Drake all feature on Championships, a triumphant release from a rapper whose personal life has often overshadowed his music.
Los Unidades - Global Citizen EP 1
Coldplay are taking a break, instead releasing under new band name Los Unidades. The new band enlist Nelson Mandela, Pharrell, Stormzy and David Guetta - to name a few - for their debut EP, Global Citizen EP 1, which comes before the 2018 Global Citizen Festival happens this weekend (which we'll be broadcasting as it happens!).
Alessia Cara - The Pains Of Growing
Alessia Cara documents the uncomfortable and awkward steps into adulthood on her brilliant second album, The Pains Of Growing. There's heartbreak, plenty of tears, a mission of self-love and finding one's self, and we think she's succeeded.
Elderbrook - Old Friend EP
Fresh off the success of 'Cola', Elderbrook drops four brand new tracks with his new EP, Old Friend. The dance floor is where his voice belongs, and he doesn't shy from flirting with different sounds on this set, with elements of techno, salsa and house elevating his lyrics to create anthems.
