Minecraft's New Update Will Change Your Whole Game Experience
Great news for Minecraft gamers who don't like adverts shouting at them in the pixelated lands. Mojang, the Minecraft developer, has said paid adverts are no more for in-game.
Gamers who use Minecraft to make money need not worry as the company isn't stopping this all together, it's just aiming to stop specific paid ads.
Now, Mojang says, it will stop when "unrelated product becomes the purpose of a Minecraft mod or server." So ad agencies, corporations, non-profit and politicians have no place using Minecraft as a promotional tool anymore. Or they'll have to be more sly about it at least.
Mojang specifies with an example: "If you are a restaurant chain, you can’t market your restaurant by releasing a mod that includes your restaurant built out of Minecraft blocks."
Of course this doesn't constrict the freedom to build, anyone can make a virtual McDonalds, they just can't make money from it for McDonalds.
For example, the image above shows what happened when a Verizon phone video ad entered the world of Minecraft.
Check out the Verizon promo video below to see what's no longer allowed. You can see the full guidelines list here.
