The rules of American Football might be a mystery to most Brits, but we do know that the sport's biggest game of the year usually brings the best adverts with it.

And the newest promo for Despicable Me spin-off Minions is a case in point - seeing the hapless yellow creatures re-imagined as sports fans in a stadium setting.

[related]The advert pans along a row of cheering, jumping fans and we see one yelling incomprehensibly, another spilling a lurid green drink on the Minion in front's head (then licking it off) and a particularly thrilled fan removing his clothes and hurling them away.

There is a moment of awkward silence as the whole stand turns to look at him, before they all erupt into cheers again.

The movie is expected to hit UK cinemas in June.
