The first trailer for the eagerly awaited Despicable Me spin-off Minions has arrived - and it looks just as good as we'd hoped.

Setting the scene at the dawn of history, the Steve Coogan-voiced trailer explains that the bumbling creatures have always attempted to serve "the most despicable master" - with a T-Rex, a Pharaoh and Dracula among those chosen.

Unfortunately they also have a habit of accidentally bumping their master off - leading to aimlessness and depression.

One such spell of unemployment sees intrepid Minion Kevin and his pals Stuart and Bob setting off from frozen Antarctica to find a new master - and drifting into New York City in 1968.

Serving female super-villain Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock), their adventures then apparently take them to mod-era London as they attempt to save minionkind.

So that's all the good news. The bad news is that you'll have to wait until next June to see how it pans out for them.
