Mischa Barton has been taken to a psychiatric unit.
The 23-year-old OC star, who entered rehab last year after being arrested for drink-driving, is reportedly being held at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, after being escorted there by police.
According to Access Hollywood, detectives were called to the star’s house to assist with a “medical issue”, resulting in her being placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold: in other words they took her into a psychiatric unit against her will.
However, a spokesperson for Barton told People magazine that police were only present to protect the actress from the media.
Karen Rayner, a representative for LAPD, said only that they are "currently assisting" Barton.
