Morrissey’s Given His Only Album-Related Interview With PETA
The Godfather of Melancholy calls out “the haters”…
By Tamara Roper
So Morrissey’s given his first and only new album-related interview to PETA. Slight kick in the teeth to the various music publications around the world who we’re sure are dying to talk to him, but hey ho. The man’s never been a conventionalist.
It’s a fairly pithy set of quotes that lack any real depth or discussion about the album (which, FYI, is called World Peace Is None Of Your Business). Morrissey instead uses the opportunity to sling mud at the international poor treatment of animals, an understandable use of time considering his stance on meat being murder.
Choice quotes include:
“Animal haters who are so certain they run the game” (cue image of gun toting non vegetarians)
A description of a track called The Bullfighter Dies as “a caustic, upbeat pop tune” (pretty sure ‘caustic’ and ‘upbeat pop tune’ were words that were never meant to be said together)
Morrissey saying that violence is “nowhere more prevalent than the despair of factory farming”
