There’s A Mortal Kombat Movie Reboot Coming And It Could Be *Totally Horrifying*

'Furious 7' and 'Saw' director James Wan is going to bring 'Mortal Kombat' back to the big screen.

'Mortal Kombat' is getting a movie reboot! Yay!

And we can expect it to be EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND HORRIFYING, probably. Yay!

Why? Because this time, the video game-turned-movie will be directed by James Wan. He's the guy who last directed' Fast and Furious 7' *and* has some serious horror pedigree: He’s known for directing/scaring the pants off everyone with 'Saw' as well as 'The Conjuring' and 'Insidious', amongst others.

The 'Mortal Kombat 'video games are known for their violent fighting and totally insane finishing moves – and with James Wan’s horror skills, combined with the awesome action he brought to 'Furious 7' this year, these could be about to be coming to the big screen in excruciatingly epic form.

Hollywood news site The Tracking Board reveals that Wan has joined the movie, which treatment started on a few years ago. According to them, the reboot “centres around a seemingly harmless guy who realises his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat’.”

The in-demand director’s also making' The Conjuring 2' for next year and directing the 'Aquaman' movie, which hits cinemas in 2018... so it might be a while before we can see the new 'Mortal Kombat' at the cinema.

Until then, we recommend you vent your frustration at the long wait ahead by tearing apart some opponents in the awesome 'Mortal Kombat X 'game, which came out for consoles this year. Or just watch the craziest MK fatalities on Youtube. Both equally satisfying / stomach churning.
