We Were Right About Moschino’s Barbie Themed Show! Now Do We Get It All For Free?
We really don’t hate to say we told you so…
Two weeks after we predicted that Moschino’s Spring/Summer 2015 show was going to be Barbie themed, Jeremy Scott sent a Mattel mad collection down the runway, bringing all our childhood fantasies to life.
Taking place at 8pm on Thursday evening, as part of Milan Fashion Week, the Moschino show was plastic fantastic from the word go. Each member of the front-row was greeted by their own Moschino-clad Barbie doll to take home, alongside this season’s must-have iPhone case, which doubles up as a pink Disney-esque hand mirror. RIP McDonalds fries boxes everywhere.
Opening the show with a model wearing the same outfit as the boxed Barbies distributed to press and celebs, Moschino’s Think Pink collection only continued to amp up throughout the show, with co-ordinating crop tops, skirts and plastic-style shoes.
Sweater dresses and sweatsuits were adorned with the Moschino logo in traditional Barbie font, as was the bikini top and shorts worn by Roller Barbie, who skated down the runway in fantastic form. Heavily sequined denim gave a nod to Ashish, while bright pink mesh pieces added a streetwise touch, to what could have been a completely saccharine show.
From the plastic pinks broke through a black and gold section, just like in Jeremy Scott’s AW14 show for the label, with head-to-toe gold leather adding some serious shine.
The pièce de résistance – for us, at least – came in T-shirts that read, “Moschino: For Ages 5 And Over”. So simple, yet so effective. Oh, and did we mention the show soundtrack? Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’, of course. You can shop selected pieces from the collection online now at Moschino.com.
